B1 ESOL Sample Writing Test

Are you taking the B1 exam, but are worried about the format of the writing section of the exam. Do now worry. Here is a sample writing test that should help you prepare for the exam.

There are normally two writing tasks with clear instructions on the topics. You normally get 1 hour for the writing part of the exam.

Sample Writing Task 1

Your class is planning a social trip one evening. Write a short note to your classmates:
· Outlining your idea
· Explaining your reasons
· Giving dates and times when you are available
· Asking the opinions of your classmates
Write 50-60 words

Sample Writing Task 2

A friend emails you to tell you that they are coming to the UK to learn English. Reply to their email, describing your experiences and giving advice about living and studying in the UK.
Write 100-120 words.
