Things to do in Reading this Bank Holiday Weekend

The August Bank Holiday weekend is nearly here, and you might be thinking what you’d like to do instead of studying!

1. Reading Festival

Reading Festival is the classic August Bank Holiday weekend fun! The festival this year kicks off with Mumford & Sons today, Metallica tomorrow and The Libertines on Sunday. It also features such well known artists as Lethal Bizzle, Ms. Dynamite, Bastille, Royal Blood, Alexisonfire, Kendrick Lamar and Jamie T.

It can be expensive for tickets, but if you are a student with Eurospeak and live locally, it is much cheaper to buy day tickets for around £75 per day.

2. Storm Trooper Display

There will be a Storm Trooper display from the Hollywood Special Effects Crew, set up in Broad Street Mall on Saturda 29th August 2015. This is a once in a lifetime experience to be able to see, pose with and marvel at the genuine Stormtrooper costumes from the 1970’s hit movies.

3. Tilehurst Festival

If you are feeling a bit fed up of the thousands of students and old timers at Reading Festival, you could always check out Tilehurst Festival. In contrast to Reading Festival, it is free entry, very family friendly and features local bands, food and entertainment, in a very relaxed atmosphere.

4. Newbury Ladies’ Day

Feeling flush? Head over to Newbury, 15 minutes on the train, and flout your swag at Ladies’ Day. The annual race dedicated to women and girls alike, is available for viewing from around £10 and is sure to show you a true British institution! Be sure to wear a fancy hat!

5. Netflix and Chill

If you feel a bit like everything is too much for you this weekend, there is nothing quite like relaxing at home with family and friends, and watching a good movie on Netflix. But don’t forget to study!
